Helping adults navigating anxiety, problematic relationship patterns, and sexual and religious/spiritual trauma

Something feels off, and it has for some time now. You find yourself feeling anxious for no apparent reason, and if you’re being completely honest with yourself, you’re totally drained. Maybe even burned out.

You’re the one everyone leans on to get things done, and done right.

You show up for others, consistently putting their needs before your own. You anticipate their feelings, smooth over conflicts, and sacrifice your own comfort to keep the peace. You give and give and give, hoping that someday, someone will finally see you and give back.

But they rarely do.

Your home life suffers. Your work suffers. Your relationships suffer.

And perhaps you’ve even gone to therapy already, only to find it didn’t go deep enough, or things just didn’t “click” with them. It happens.

But what if your suffering is not inevitable? What if there are root causes that can be identified, understood, and processed with someone who truly gets you? Someone you can really open up to.

I’m Tom, and if you’re tired of trying to hold it all together on your own, I’m here to help you understand why this keeps happening and help you build something better. We'll work together to create a new story—not one defined by your past, but one written by you.

Together we'll:

  • Identify the root causes of your behaviors and better understand why you do what you do, even if it may not make sense to you now.

  • Develop healthy boundaries that protect your energy without damaging your relationships.

  • Learn to recognize relationship red flags early, so you can avoid draining, one-sided relationships before they begin.

  • Build fulfilling connections with people who give as much as they take.

  • Develop more self-compassion so you can finally prioritize yourself without guilt or shame.

When you’re ready to begin this process of self-understanding and genuine self-care, I’m here to make the rest of your journey feel tolerable, manageable, and hopeful. Click the button below to get started.

My approach is relational and emotionally-focused, and emphasizes getting at the roots of things. And while this work can be challenging, you won't be doing it alone. I bring a calm, steady presence to our sessions, and I work to build a genuine connection where you can be yourself—not the version of you that has everything together.

Momentum Counseling & Psychotherapy is based in Raleigh and Asheville, North Carolina, and I offer online therapy throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Maine. You don’t have to figure this out alone. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can see if we're a good fit. No pressure, no commitment—just a conversation about what you're looking for and how I might help.
